When to visit Koh Samui

Koh Samui day trips are available all year round subject to the sea conditions being ok. The best months are June, July and August.

Most Koh Samui snorkeling day trips depart daily in two different directions. Either north to the island of Koh Tao and nearby Koh Nang Yuan. Or west to the Angthong Marine Park. If you have time we recommend a day trip to each of these destinations. Trips run year round. The waters close to Koh Samui are not as clear as at the outer islands and at certain times of the year can be too shallow for snorkeling. So for the best snorkeling you should go to Koh Tao, Koh Nangyuan or Angthong Marine Park.

Closer to Samui is it’s unspoiled neighboring island Koh Phangan. The island can be reached quickly by ferry and there are also some day tours available to explore the beautiful bays.

If you are mainly interested in snorkeling go to Koh Tao. If you want to escape the crowds then Angthong has fewer daily visitors than Koh Tao. If you want a day relaxing on a comfortable boat try the Red Baron cruise to Koh Phangan.
